CHLIDREN AND MAPS

CHILDREN AND MAPS

Despite maps being fun to use, the culture of map use in Kenya is yet to be fully embraced with some primary schools having only a single atlas copy. In our primary schools only one atlas exist (primary school atlas). Considering the cognitive skills of children differ from age to age it would be more appropriate to have more than one atlas for primary schools (1. Pre-school atlas, 2. Lower primary school atlas, 3. Upper primary school atlas)

When map use is initiated at a tender age it grows on you leading to much appreciation of maps at higher levels of learning and in daily use.

The realization of these atlases will be a step in the journey of making maps apart of our daily lives in Kenya
